Mini Adventure: 4th of July Trip [[LONG post]]

Hello Dreamers!
I hope this post finds you well!

As I mentioned yesterday, in my It's Been A While post (which is also the name of a great song by Staind), I've been absent and there is really not an excuse for it other then I am lazy. Any who, I wanted to start the series of update posts with this past weekend. This past weekend was 4th of July weekend, and Lee went home with me to meet my parents.

So it turned out that he ended up with 24 hour duty on Friday and we were leaving on Saturday. Luckily, I've made the drive between NC and FL so many times, I don't really need someone else with me to make it, it's just nice to have someone there to talk to. So we made sure on Thursday night that we packed up everything we would need so that all I had to do was pick him up. Of course, my watch died on Friday and I needed to go to Walmart first thing Saturday morning and pick up a new battery. I'm really weird about always having a watch on, apparently (and I didn't know this at first) I get a little fidgety when it isn't there (I was told this in 2014 when Mo and I went to the Marine Corps Birthday Ball and I couldn't wear my watch- which is why he bought me a "big girl watch" for Christmas that year)

I got up earlier then I originally planned on Saturday morning to make my run to Walmart. Thankfully I got up early because I ended up having to go back to the house for Lee's swim trunks... because it occurred to him that he hadn't packed them like he thought (which would make sense because he wore them the night we packed our suitcase). After I made sure that we actually had everything, I went on base and picked Lee up from duty and we hit the road. He stayed awake and we talked until about halfway through South Carolina, where he decided it was time for him to nap. This turned out to be a good thing because we got stuck in 40 minutes of traffic (for 20 miles) because people wanted to rubber neck and see this van burning on the other side of the road (he hates it when people rubber neck). He didn't wake up until our stop in Savannah for gas and lunch.  He decided to drive for a little while after that, which was much appreciated because my back was really starting to hurt. We were supposed to arrive at my parents house a little after 6pm but because of stupid drivers in SC, we arrived closer to 8pm. Thankfully, my parents had dinner waiting for me (Lee didn't eat) and it was a sigh of relief to have made the trip.

My parents had a lot of stuff that they wanted to show Lee in our short trip home, which was fine with me. On the first day we were there we took him to the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks, which is a lovely little Greek town where they are all about their culture and the selling of sea sponges. We ate at a traditional Greek restaurant and I showed him the Aquarium there, where you can pet and feed sting rays and little sharks. After that we tried to take him out to Dunedin's beaches, but the traffic was so long and my father is so impatient, that we decided to go swimming at home instead (my parents have a pool). My best friend Lindsay came over and we had a great afternoon just hanging out at home. Lindsay even introduced us (well... more me then him) to a local Meadery, for which I was super stoked about. It was a great little place and I bought the last two bottles of their Mango Mead (which surprises me because I usually don't like the flavored stuff but it wasn't a punch in the face of mango, more like a gentle hint of it).

We had to go to Walmart that evening to return a swim mask that we bought earlier in the day, and Lee ended up helping a gentleman while we were there. When we arrived at Walmart, the employee was laying on a bench outside and his friend (another employee) was kind of looking around frantically. She passed by us in a hurry to get inside and Lee asked her if her friend was okay. She said he wasn't and Lee just looked at me. Instead of asking him to go inside I took the face mask from his hands and pointed in the direction of the employee who looked like he needed some help. He was an older gentleman and he really didn't look good, he was dizzy and covered in sweat, and we both immediately thought it was a heat injury (look at me... I learned things while I was in the Army....). We gathered the gentleman up and helped him inside (even though it was in the evening.... it's still incredibly hot and humid in Florida and inside was obviously nice and cool). We got him just inside the doors and set him on a bench. Lee asked him some questions while we waited for management to get there to take care of him. They seemed like they had it under control so Lee and I got in line to return the mask.  Next thing we know, they're all in a panic and called for some help and an ambulance. Lee threw me the mask again, and went to help. The gentleman ended up having a stroke (Lee said it was probably a heat induced stroke) and unfortunately there isn't much Lee can do (although he is EMT certified, he isn't EMS certified - and yes, there is a difference). HE stayed with the gentleman, got him talking and was talking to the management, while I went outside with the gentleman's friend and we waited for the ambulance (it wasn't a long wait, they were pulling up into the parking lot as we walked outside). They obviously took over once they got there, but the management was happy that we were there to help in the meantime. Everyone else just wanted to stop and stare at what was going on, instead of offering help, and Lee and I just wanted to help.

The 4th started out at Clearwater Beach, which was just perfect. We spent a couple of hours there before showing him Sand Key Beach, and then going home. I took Lee to Steak and Shake (his new favorite place after our last trip to Raleigh) and then we went into Tampa for the Oakley store. He ended up trading in a pair of broken glasses that we found in some parking lot and getting 25% off a new pair for himself. Since he bought the polarized lenses, I got $40 off a new pair for myself.

After that, we just went back home for a nap and then a swim. I took a nap while they talked about Scientology and then my father's new Boar hunting rifle (for those that don't know, Clearwater is the World HQ for Scientology and my mother used to work for them but wasn't a Scientologist. Also- I have no idea why my father bought a boar hunting rifle... he hasn't used a rifle since he was in the military and certainly never went hunting with one). That night we walked down to the water at the end of my parents house and watched the fireworks. It was definitely a test in my patience because I still can't really handle the noise of the fireworks. They still make me jump and then I get mad at myself for having that reaction....

Tuesday morning brought us back to the road and heading back home to Fayetteville. It was a much smoother drive and Lee stayed awake the whole time. I love the fact that he offered to take over part of the driving because he knew that I couldn't sit still for that long.

Overall, it was a great short little trip. My parents loved him and he had a great time. I introduced him to my second family, my best friend's family, and they all got along really well. It was a nice vacation away from Fayetteville, and part of me wishes it had been a little longer. Lee just says that it's our excuse to come back so I can show him more stuff that we didn't get to (like Busch Gardens and Disney).

Next week it's my turn to go meet his family in Virginia. This should be an interesting adventure. I won't lie... I'm a little nervous even though I've talked to them on the phone a few times.

Now I just need to finish working in my scrap-journal about that trip.......

"I Love" Sundays v.63

Hello dearest Dreamers
Happy Sunday to you all!!!!

** Monday was quite successful for me. I started two new bullet journal books, one for my blog and another one for my photography business. I love the way these things help me stay organized and I like having separate ones for my blog, photography, and my personal life.

** I also applied to be part of the RUKristin Awesome Ladies Project Creative Team! I will share a post tomorrow about the results of this!

** Tuesday was the first time in my life that I have ever (be able to) call out sick from work. I had a horrible sore throat and I didn't want to be around people. The constant weather changing and my cold house.... it was only a matter of time that my allergies kicked me in the face. In the meantime, I did get a lot of photos printed out and caught up on my scrap journaling. There will be an upcoming post about there in the near future.

** Amy and I started to plan where we were going to hang pictures and art in the office spaces. We took two of my pictures to Hobby Lobby for framing. I got them from a street vendor in Nurnburg, Germany and I wanted them to be similarly framed since the pictures were similar. I can't wait to get them back and get them hanging on the wall.

** Thursday brought me my acceptance letter from Fayetteville State University. I am officially going back to college... this time in an actual college (well... I'll be taking classes on post instead of on the actual campus - it's a bit of a drive for me and not the best parts of town), no more online classes for me!

** Friday brought our Housewarming Party. Before that though, we got a LOT of stuff accomplished (you should see my list for Friday in my planner). You should read that post for the beginning looks at the McNaugle House. My friend Sarah also asked me to help her start her own blog! I am pretty stoked about that one.

** Today I got to spend the day just hanging out with Lee. We went to the mall so he could get some clothes and then we went on a long walk around the neighborhood. It was nice, because we're always either at my house or we're hanging out with Amy and Mem (not complaining, but it's nice to do something that is just us). Afterwards, we went to Red Robin with Amy and Mem and had a good evening.

"I Love" Sunday's v.62

Hello dearest Dreamers
Happy Sunday! I hope this post finds you well!

** Amy's father drove down from Ohio on Monday and I got to meet my new Grandpa. This gentleman is awesome and I am grateful to have met him. We went to Moe's for dinner, which is always one of our favorite places to go. "Welcome to Moe's!"

** Tuesday brought the beginning of our move into the new house, and what an adventure that was! It started raining as soon as we loaded up the trucks and a trailer and stopped once we were finished. Thankfully we had a couple of great friends and coworkers who came over to help with the move, which obviously made things go by much faster. We got the majority of our stuff moved in the few hours before I went to work, despite the rain.

this is just a few of the people who came in to help.
A couple of people had to leave before we got around to taking a picture.
** Wednesday was the final push to get all of our stuff moved out of the old apartment and into the new house. I thought that I had to work but didn't, so that went well! The poor TWC guy came over in the morning and got rained on for the whole 2 hours he was there. He was even under the house and thankfully he brought a jump suit. We went to get a tv for Memphis (which he was super excited for) and then we went to get a box spring for me (which of course meant it was time for the sky to open up and POUR down on us). We were driving down the road holding onto the mattress, which meant the inside of the car was soaked and then once we got home, Grandpa was standing in the WORST spot when Amy and I went to move the mattress and he then got DUMPED on yet again. Apparently the universe thought he needed another bath.

** Friday was my day off and I got to spend some time with my boyfriend. He was out in the field all week, but they let everyone come back on Friday (after 2 days of being poured on) and he came over and hung out for quite away. Amy was excited to have an excuse to fire up our new grill and make some Italian Sausage and Hamburgers. Dinner is always fun in this house.

** Saturday was our first night out in quite a while. Amy and I joined a couple of her EMT friends for dinner last night, and I love being able to see some of those girls. The service wasn't that great, but it was still nice to see people and for Amy and I to get out of the house. Memphis later joined us after his friends birthday party. We got ice cream once we were done, which is always a great way to end the day.

** I thought I had to open this morning, but it turns out that I had to work this evening. This is awesome because Mem and I got to sit around all morning while I got caught up on The Arrow. I love lazy days at home.

** This song was my jam on the way home from work today. It's a good lesson to learn and I love it! It's on my iPod because I like another one of her songs, but have never heard this one before. I really like it!

"I Love" Sundays v.61

Hello dearest friends!
This has been kind of an exciting (but super long week)

** Monday found me cracking open the Harry Potter coloring book that I bought some time ago while Amy took a nap on the couch and I colored my first page. I didn't want to do any of the more complicated pages just yet because I was incredibly tired, so I started with the Gryffindor crest. Slytherin is next!

** Also on Monday, while I was at work, this lovely lady below came into my store and told me "This may sound weird, but I follow you on Instagram. I knew you worked at Starbucks but I didn't put two and two together that you worked at THIS Starbucks." It made my day to have met this lovely lady. You can follow her on IG here! ((I need to take a better picture next time, but I was at work and I wasn't supposed to have my phone out but I wanted a picture with this gorgeous and sweet girl))

** Tuesday was an incredibly long day for me. I took a coworkers shift because she didn't have someone to watch her young son, so I worked for 11.5 hours. I was exhausted, closing two days in a row and then such a long day on the second day. Thankfully, I closed with a great group of people, and the guy that I talked about last Sunday visited me during my dinner break. It was sweet.

** Speaking of my work. Some of the regulars have started to learn my name (I've been working the front counter a lot lately) and thankfully all have patience with me when I need help figuring out what a "Black Eye" or a "Dirty Chai" is ((can you tell that I really don't drink much coffee?)) The other upside is that I have started to learn some of their names! This makes me happy!!!

** Thursday had me running into an old NCO of mine from when I was stationed here back 2011-2014. He was a super awesome guy and we almost literally ran into each other in the food court at the mini mall! I am going to meet him at his work tomorrow to help him with his VA packet because he is retiring soon.

** I found Kara of Boho Berry sometime this week and was kind of hooked on her style of bullet journaling. I LOVE the way that she does it! She is so creative and talented and she makes her bujo more then just a simple to do list! I love her handwriting and she has inspired me with some new collections to add to my scrap-journal!

** Friday was a super busy but successful day for me and my little McNaugle family! Amy and I decided that we were going to get our hair done (I needed a new dye job because the blonde and brown was starting to show through again and I wanted to do something different) so this is what I did! I also had her curl my hair when she was done dying and highlighting it! I love how it turned out. It didn't stay curled for very long, but I just love the color - it's red with copper highlights. The bottom looks more reddish brown, but that's ok.

** On Friday we also got the keys to our new house! Like I told you guys in this post! Make sure you check that one out!!!

My surprise

Hey Dreamers,
Happy Friday!!!!!

So as some of you may have read (and some people already know), that I have a big surprise that I have been dying to talk about. I know that my mom reads my blog and follows my social media for the blog, so I haven't been able to say anything until today (thanks Mom! Haha.... I love you!!!!).

My roommate Amy and I decided to continue living together and we're renting a beautiful house just down the road from our current apartment. We picked up the keys to the house today and will start moving into the house over the course of this coming week! Amy's Dad is driving all the way from Ohio to help us move and we couldn't be happier or more thankful for all his help.

I'll be sharing pictures over the course of the week as we get moved, settled, and unpacked, and eventually I'll share a big post about my new room (guys.... I'm going to have my own room with my own big girl bed....) and the set up of the craft room which is going to double as my office for my photography business.

I JUST CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I'm excited to still be living with Amy and her son Memphis. They've been super awesome to me since I have come home and you guys have heard me call them my little family over the course of the last couple of months. We get along so well, both Amy and I cook dinner (either together or before the other comes home from work), we'll have someone to craft with, and we just really like living together.

It's still in the same neighborhood that our apartment is on, just off the main road. It's actually closer to Memphis' school and some of his friends. It's just a gorgeous house and we adore the family that we're renting it from. They are a sweet couple. We met the husband, Chuck, last Friday when we dropped off the deposit and he is a cool dude. We talked about the military (inevitable when people learn I am a veteran) and his wife was more then proud to show us Chuck's handiwork on the house they live in. He's redone a good part of the house by himself and it looks incredible.

Our new house is in a nice little neighborhood. It's a two story house with 2.5 bathrooms, a cozy living room, a formal living room and a formal dining room (my office). It has an eat in kitchen and a den that we're turning into Memphis' game room. Amy will live on the ground floor in the master bedroom and then Memphis and I will share the second floor with our two rooms and a bathroom.

I can't wait to show you guys photos of our new house once we get settled.

So I didn't even tell my mother about us renting a house together until today because I wanted to make sure that everything was set before I told her. She really was hoping that Amy and I would continue living together and I know that this makes her super happy! It's because she worries about me and living with Amy makes her worry less. She's also adopted Amy and Memphis into our family and their family has done the same for me. I've gained another sister and a nephew! Woohoo! Anyway, I just really wanted everything to be set before I told her, in case anything went wrong.

Be on the lookout next week for another house related post and keep an eye on my Instagram for pictures of the moving shenanigans!

"I Love" Sundays v.54

Hello dear friends and readers!!!

Welcome to the first post of 2016!!!!!

** Monday was kind of a boring day.... my parents were at work so my younger brother and I hung out at home watching HGTV all day (although he also napped a bit). I finished packing up my belongings to get ready for my trip on Tuesday back to Fayetteville. That night we went out to a family dinner at our favorite little Irish place, called O'Keefes. I love their fried pickles! yummy!! Mom called them fried tickles at one point and it stuck from that point on! We had a lot of good laughs and it was a  great dinner.

This is from my brother's senior photos back in June of 2015.
It's the most recent family photo I have of us.

** Tuesday was the long drive back to Fayetteville with the husky. I love my family, but I was very glad to get home! My roommate and I arrived back at the same time (she went home to Ohio with her son). We were both super glad to get back!

** The 30th was my last day in the Army. This is a good thing, but it also made me kind of sad!

**  New Years Eve! The end of 2015! Holy cow, where did the time go?!? I got enrolled at my local VA and was also told about them hiring for some admin people! I just gotta finish my resume and get that turned in! Oh! I also applied for some jobs at other places as well!! There was also THIS post about officially being a retiree fro the US Army. My roommate, her son, and I hung out at the apartment for the evening, watching Friends on Netflix until the ball dropped. We called our families and then went to bed. We're kind of lame AWESOME like that. My kind of people!!!

** I've just been applying for jobs while finishing up the rest of my college application. The school didn't get back to me in time about my transferred credits and my JST transcript, so I don't think I will be starting in January like I had hoped. Like I said, I've applied to several places and am just waiting to hear back. Hopefully I can start school soon though!

** I went and bought a bed, a frame, and a nightstand today from Ashley furniture and they will be dropped off in a couple weeks. This gives me plenty of time to get my apartment (hopefully done tomorrow) and have a place set up for when my stuff arrives from Germany. The best part is that I made a new friend that works at Staples (went in for a pen and came out with a new friend) and Ashley Furniture (the chick that helped me out). All because of my Harry Potter necklace and Darth Vader shirt!

OH! I also had lunch with a dear friend of mine today! We were in AIT together back in 2011 and ended up stationed together at Bragg right away! I was there when her son was born after deployment and right before I moved to Germany! I missed this chick and her no bullshit attitude. <3 Sam!

Kind of a busy week and I have a lot of stuff going on in my life.

"I Love" Sundays v.53

** Amy got out of work early on Monday to deal with house stuff since we both left for our parents houses the next day. We closed all the windows, cleaned out the fridge, did last minute laundry, and made sure everything was packed and ready to go. Monday night we watched Sister Act II

** Tuesday was a bit of a hum dinger for me. The good news is I made it home safely and at a reasonable time. The bad news: the rental car company my mom used to get me a car, screwed me over. I almost didn't get a rental car to go home (couldn't fly because I had the dog). Luckily my usual company (although the branch on post) saved me and I got a rental car for $273 for the whole week I'm gone!

** We had a Christmas party at my parents house on Wednesday so I could see some of my old friends. I think this is becoming a tradition at my house (at least I hope so) because it's the second year in a row. I'm pretty sure my mother even suggested it this year. Some friends came over that I haven't seen since I graduated high school and we had an absolute blast!

** USAA saved my butt by the way. The short of it all is that someone got ahold of my card information from a gas station pump and stole money from me. USAA alerted me right away and closed my account until I could pull cash out the next day. Once I pulled cash they closed my card for good and immediately expedited me a new card that would arrive to my NC address the same day I did. The good part of this story - they acted immediately when they noticed something weird with my account. Walmart has a way to override USAA's security measures, which is how the people got the money out, but they gave me back the money taken from me.

** I got to hang out with my "second family" - the Buss family. That is my best friend's family! I always make time to see them when I go home, its as much of a mandatory thing as seeing my actual family. I got to sit and chat for a while, which was spectacular! I've really missed this.

** Mom and I spent a couple of evenings crafting. I worked to get caught up on my Dec. Daily ((still behind on videos))  and she did some stamping.

** Christmas came and went at our house. It was easy because it was just our little family of 4 (and 3 dogs). We all got presents we absolutely loved! My brother and I even sword fought with his two foam Minecraft swords for laughs. My parents got me a gift card for photography equipment, which I am beyond stoked about.

** I started working on my roommate's Christmas present, her first handmade MJdori! It was kind of fun to make one from start to finish. My mom had to help me cut the leather down, but then I rounded the corners, put the holes in the spine, added the grommets, and then finished off with adding the elastic strings to hold it closed!

** On Saturday we signed Mom up to be part of the Women's Auxiliary at the local VFW, under me. The special part is this VFW is named for my dearest friend Zack. I've talked about him before. The guys there were super nice and they thought it was awesome that we actually knew Zack (I don't think any of them actually knew him before he passed away). Glad that my mom is signed up and apart of something great!

"I Love" Sundays v.41

Hello friends

Happy Sunday! How're you today?

**  Today is my parents wedding anniversary! Yay to them for being married for over 10 years! A quick super kudos to my dad (a man that never wanted kids) who stepped up to take care of two children that weren't his. He is the best dad that my youngest brother and I could've asked for!

** I recolored my hair this past Friday night because I was tired of it all being multiple colors. I wanted it all to be a single color. It's a little darker then I expected, I think that it looks more brown then red, but K disagrees (she dyed her hair as well) and says it looks more red. It'll lighten up after a few more washes and hopefully be the exact color I was hoping for.

** K and I went to Nurnburg to go to a store called Underground (a place full of gothic style clothing) yesterday, it was pretty awesome! I got a new shirt!!! There was also a street fair going on (it was like a GIANT yard sale covering the entire city of Nurnburg) that was pretty cool. I got some cool stuff for reasonable prices! There was also a store in one of the buildings in the city that was a geek store! I bought a new Snape wand and a Hogwarts tank top! Later on in the day, I bought a mini guitar to give as a present to a friend of mine as well.

The little guitar that I picked up for my friend!

** Figured out that Netflix works on my work computer, which will help me make it through long boring night shifts. It meant that I got to catch up on Disney movies that I didn't know were around. I know that that sounds weird for me to say, I'm watching Netflix at work, but working night shift... that means there is nothing going and I need to stay awake some how!

** I bought the Disney Infinity 2.0 game for my Xbox finally (I have some of the figurines already), so I started playing it on Friday since it was my day off. Other then the fact that the screen is kind of small because it's pulled back to cover a lot of the area, I like the game so far.

** I'm almost done cleaning, purging, and organizing my room! Most of my craft supplies are all in their proper places! For the first time since I've been here. Sad that I'll be leaving here in a couple months, but better late then never I guess. It's mostly thanks to all the craft tour videos I've been watching.

** Today, I had to take C to Vilseck to get a new mattress for his son, D, since he's kind of outgrown his crib and he has a baby sister on the way. That was an adventure! The awesome part is I got a 12X12 organizer to hold my loose scrapbook paper! There were some other things that I got too, that were all about organizing.
Once we got back to C's house, we found out that there was a Medieval Festival going on near the Nurnburg Castle. So of course, we collect C's wife and son, and then collected K, and made our way to the castle. There will be a post about the festival later on this week!

"I Love" Sunday's v.31

Hello friends and Happy Sunday!

This has been a super busy week for me... and I am super pooped.

** I flew to Florida Sunday evening/ Monday morning to surprise my brother this week. He graduated on Thursday, and had no idea I would be there. The best part was watching him try to figure out what was going on Monday morning when he was getting ready for his last day of school. At first he thought I was our mom (she occasionally sleeps on the couch) but then he saw the light of my cell phone and my mom walked in, he had to do a couple of double takes before he pieced together that I was there.

**  My mom made me my first Midori Travelers Notebook and taught me how to make my own! I have a field notes size that I am going to use as part of the Listers Gonna List project as well as to keep track of my blog posts. I made a larger size Midori to use as a calendar and crafting project notebook. I also made one for my friend Eilene, the Event Coordinator for Relay for Life.

** So my best friend from 5th Grade was in the area visiting her father (she moved to Nebraska after 7th grade) so I got to see her! We haven't seen each other since 2012 when I was home on mid-tour leave from Afghanistan. We surprised my mom for lunch before we went to Hot Topic for some geeky shopping. I got a Batman swimsuit that is reversible, it's more black then yellow on one side and the other side is more yellow then black!

** I finally got my rose tattoo that I have been wanting for a while! I went to the same place that I got my music tattoo from back at Christmas of 2011. He did my rose tattoo, touched up my breast cancer ribbon, and did a heart on the side of my wrist for me and my best friend. Pretty stoked about it all! I do so love tattoos.

** I also was treated to a pedicure by my friend Ashes and her mother on Wednesday. It was nice to spend time with them. I am kinda weird about people touching my feet, especially now with the Fibromyalgia acting up more in my legs and has poor timing on when it choses to act up.

** Jordan graduated on Thursday morning, thankfully it was a quick ceremony. There were a lot of screaming and high pitch noises that kind of set me on edge, but it was still nice. Afterwards, we went and I took his senior pictures. Check out this post on my photography blog for more information! I swear although he doesn't look like it, he is 5 years younger then me!

My dad took this picture of me and my brother

** Yesterday was Relay for Life on base. It is always a great evening and we had a lot of fun throughout the night. Mo was so proud of his Avengers styled A for our banner. Everything on that banner was drawn by either Mo or myself. There will be a more dedicated post about the entire event later this week!

**  I am planning on participating in RUKristen's Find Your Voice 2015 this year and I signed up to be a sponsor and an ambassador for the event. I can't wait to find out whether or not I get to be either (or both). I am working on being a better memory keeper and combining my love of photography, memory keeper, and story teller.
